I met Clifford Hewis several times during the 1950s and was allowed to sit on the organ bench with him during several evensongs conducted by the Organist Gordon Slater. Introduced by friends who sang in the Lincoln Choral Society - conducted by Gordon Slater with Clifford Hewis as accompanist. Recently accompanied the Prep school Choir where I am a peripatetic piano/organ teacher in an anthem arranged around the tune St Botolph written by Gordon Slater. Many thanks, will bring back memories! Peter de Croos

Somehow, Clifford Hewis has been overlooked by the Friends of The Musicians' Chapel in London, and I am suggesting that he should be added to the Musicians' Book of Remembrance. This grave image will help.
