1916 first name on monumentCWGC gravestone.William Albert E Brown was born in 1877 in Poplar, Middlesex. He enlisted in 3rd/4th Bttn, South Lancashire Regiment on 27 April 1915 at Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire. He is also commemorated on the Poppy Trail in the Cemetery Chapel at Newton-le-Willows where each of the 300 approx soldiers who died from the town in WW1 receive a poppy cross on the centenary of their death. William was the son of John & Jane Brown. His marriage to Ada Emily Tagg was registered in 1893 at Chorlton, Lancashire.

This soldier was from Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside (previously Lancashire) & we are doing a poppy trail & documentary on each soldier from this town. Obviously a photo of his head stone would be great on the document. Thanks. It is only for our use & not for public use.
