She had no children but died in childbirth fifteen years later on 3rd January 1896, much lamented, at Copsley, Outwood, the home of their friend Mrs Dyce Alexander |
Rev Edward Bacheler Russell | 1900 | 48 | 1852 | husband of Amy Agnes Russell | Edward married secondly Mary Dorothea Barclay, on 15th September 1897 at Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. They went immediately to take up a missionary post in South India but returned home the following March ready for the birth of Ned. On the way home the ship on which they were travelling, the P&O s.s. China, went aground on the Island of Perim in the Red Sea. They arrived in London ten days later with the clothes they stood up in plus three stuffed crocodiles and a stuffed iguana. Regrettably Edward died two years later while they were on holiday in Scotland with the Barclay Family in a cycling accident. Edward is buried in this grave together with his two wives and also the ashes of his second son, Sandy. |

With his first wife, Caroline, Sandy had three children, Bridget Mary Barclay Russell, George Christopher (Kit) Barclay Russell and Roger Barclay Russell. He was an artist who promoted art as a subject of importance in schools that lead to a country-wide movement and the strong interest in art that exists in schools now. |

After Amy's death and while home in UK after his first missionary tour in South India, Edward married Mary Dorothea Barclay. They had two sons, Edward David Bacheler Russell (Ned), 27th June 1898 to 12th June 1964 and Alexander Barclay Russell (Sandy), 3rd March 1900 to November 1980. |
