Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Researching Robert Dand. He was the first owner of our house (Dalmeny House)Rowlands Gill. He moved to Burnopfield and called his next house Rosebery . Wondered why he named two houses after Dalmeny House (Rosebery Family) in Scotland. Your great service has shown that he had family roots in Burnopfield.

John Littleton's mother, Mary, was the eldest daughter of John and Mary Dand of Longhead in the parish of Wigton, Cumberland. Her youngest sibling, Robert Dand was the father of James Dand. James Dand was born at Newby in the parish of Irthington, Cumberland in 1832. He moved to County Durham circa 1868 and died at Low Farm, Lintz Green 18th November 1902.
