am Descendant of Bempde Henry Baugh and his father Captain Henry Baugh and wife Catherine Johnston. Bempde was the first British Officer wounded as result of the Indian Mutiny, by Mangal Pandy in 1857. Commissioned Ensign 26th Native Infantry, 1842; Lieutenant 34th Bengal Native Infantry, 1848; Brevet Captain 1857 B.H. Baugh, 34th Bengal Native Infantry, was twice wounded by the infamous sepoy Manghal Pandi.
