Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Hi Thank you for offering this service. My husband, Jeff, and I are travelling to the UK (from Australia) in April/May and going on a self-drive holiday. I have been doing some family history research to see if there are any “ancestral sites” we can visit along the way. I have discovered that Jeff’s great-great-great-grandparents, Thomas and Hannah White, were the publicans at the Ship Inn on Middlegate for at least 20 years (1841, 51 and 61 Censuses), so we are planning to detour into Hartlepool on the 17th May, all being well, to visit the hotel and their grave. I am hoping that by receiving the high-res image of the grave we will improve our chances of finding it in the churchyard. Thank you, Heather Latz

Notes about St Hilda the Headland Church burial ground

A prominent feature of the Headland, St Hilda's church was built in the late twelfth century but the south doorway shows in its decoration that it belonged to an earlier Norman church.
