Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Robert Rust was my 3 x Great Grand Uncle and I have been researching this side of my family for many years; photographic evidence is such a fabulous and priviledged bonus especially when one cannot physically attend such areas of research, but only visit in a virtual sense. I find it difficult to understand such a lack of thanks from previous recipients to people like yourselves who embrace the spirit of family history and share. Time is precious for everyone and generosity of spirit is unfortunately not as prevalent as we all wish it would be. On a more personal note I am unsure as to whether your service is a national one; I suppose on hindsight I should have taken a look because if it is then I would be happy to offer my assistance within my locality. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to travel too far afield as I don't drive but would be more than willing to help in any way I can. Researching my family history has for the most part been an uplifting experience and I have met (in a virtual sense)many kind, sharing and caring people and only hope that I have left them with a true sense of reciprocated respect and kindness. Many thanks for this website and the valuable information avaialble here for people like myself. Kind Regards Elaine

Robert's wife Martha nee Berry (christened 1 May 1836 at St. Peter, Drayton) is the sister of my gr.gr.-grandfather James Edward Berry. Their father Matthew Berry was the publican of the local 'Wheatsheaf' from 1847 untill his death in 1874 when his wife took over. In 1883 Robert Rust and later his wife Martha are listed as publicans of the 'Wheatsheaf'. Thanks for your great work! Being out in Germany I won't be much help to you, but I do enjoy indexing records on familysearch as it contributes to making everyone's search for ancestors so much easier.
