Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am George's grand daughter. My father Malcolm was born in Hong Kong on 22 May 1937 and was taken by ship to Australia in December of 1940. His father returned to Hong Kong and was consequently interred in Stanley concentration camp where he was killed in January 1945.

Adam Holland was married to my mother's cousin - Jessie Holland. Jessie was a nurse who was killed by a sniper's bullet on the last ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong evacuating British Indian troops on 11 Dec 1941. Adam, who was Works Superintendent, was interned in Stanley Camp and was one of 14 civilians killed when an American aircraft bombed the camp in error on 16 January 1945.
