Peter Burns McCowat was my Gr Gr Gr grandfather .... his son Thomas McCowat was 2 at the time of his death and after staying in the redhouse an orphanage emigrated to Australia as a Presbyterian Minister... He married Mary Barrie Outersen 1909 on The Cairns Warf but she died of TB 1914 leaving two young children Evelyn and Jack - of whom we are descended from Evelyn ... we have transcrpts of the articles in the paper at the time of his death but did not know there was a memorial - thank you for your assistance it puts a more personal touch to facts about our ancestors lives > not sure what I can do to help from Australia but let me know if there is anything
