He was the 1st born child out of a family of 9 children. Married Caroline Blake on the 17th Dec 1829 in Madras India. Died from drowning 13 Feb 1871. His father, Sir Richard was the Commodore of the Persian Gulf Squadron for the British Navy during the War. His brother James, wife & children emigrated to Australia in 1853.

Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am researching Commodore Richard Ethersley who committed suicide immediately prior to the attack on Mohamra, India (He served in the Indian Army) with Sir Richard F Burton who was under him as a lieutenant. That's all I know about him at the moment... BUT if this is the same man maybe you would like this information for yourself and a copy of the bit that I do have?
