Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Tracing a name in an old book I have. It belonged to Robert Sykes around 1893 who then passed it on to his son john laverack Sykes who was killed a few days after the d day landings in 1944. I'm trying to put the story together to possibly contact any family there may be left. Many thanks in advance.

We bought a lovely second hand book with 'Robert j Sykes 'and 'John l Sykes' written in pencil on the inside of the cover. We found out that the family had come from epworth where my husband used to live. We now live in France and would like to visit the war grave of john, who died just after D Day. We think maybe his parents could never visit and it seems there was no other family .He died at just 26 years old. We thought it would be nice to lay some flowers on his grave.
