Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Arthur Thomas was my grandfather's brother. He was killed in a motorcycle accident whilst riding to the Nidderdale show in, presumably, 1930. Legend has it that he was so well known and liked in the agricultural community that the show was brought to an close upon the news. I am attempting to research this.
