Ashville College, Harrogate; St.Gabriel, Bouchout, and School of Commerce, Antwerp; intended entering the Liverpool University with the intention of specializing in chemistry; enlisted in the Royal Artillery 18 Dec. 1916; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from Feb. 1917, and was killed in action at Passchendaele 25 Oct. following. Buried at Canada Farm, Elverdinghe, north-west of Ypres. An officer wrote: 'He had not been long with us, but quite long enough to appreciate his worth. I had occasion only once to have a chat with him, and was very interested to learn of his ambition. I had marked him as a decided asset to the battery, as one who would soon get promotion.' Unm. |
