Charles McWhirter McMillan
son of Duncan Davie McMillanCharles was born in Leeds in September 1898, so he was 18 in 1916. He appears to to have volunteered for the RFC and learned how to fly. He graduated as a flying officer on 8th March 1918, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, and was posted to a number of different squadrons,before finally being posted to 70 Squadron on 27th April, having been promoted to Lieutenant on 1st April, the day the RFC became the RAF. Two months later, on 27th June, he was killed in action near Ervillers, France, and is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial.
