Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Richard Reeve and Mary Judd were the parents of Harriett Reeve born 11 July 1824 at St James, Bury Saint Edmonds, Suffolk, England. Richard Reeve aged 97 years and his unmarried daughter Elizabeth Reeve born 9 August 1816 were living with Harriett Gouldby and George Gouldby and their 12 year old daughter Elizabeth Gouldby aged 12 years at Rushmere, Suffolk, England on the 1881 census. The daughter of Richard Reeve and Mary Judd, named Louisa Reeve christened in 1814 at St James, Bury Saint Edmonds, Suffolk, England married John GEE, butcher, from Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire at St James, Bury Saint Edmonds, Suffolk on 02 May 1833. After giving birth to seven children, Louisa Gee nee Reeve died on 28 Aug 1845, at Hackney, Stoke Newington, Southwold, England. One year later on 30 Aug 1846 John Gee married Ann Webb at Parish Church of St Mary,Haggerston, Middlesex, England. He emigrated with his new wife and youngest five children to Melbourne, Australia in 1855 on the "Earl of Sefton". When Richard Reeve, who I believe is buried in this plot with his wife Mary Judd, daughter and son-in-law (Harriett and George Gouldby) died in 1881 the will mentioned his deceased daughter Louisa Gee nee Reeve, leaving an amount of money to her children. A codicil retracted the money to the children that went to Australia and but gave an amount to her two daughters that stayed in England namely, Harriet Crane and Louisa May. John Gee, butcher, became the Superintendent of the Melbourne Abbatoir. His son, John Gee Junior married Sophia Wild in Melbourne and left Australia for Southland, New Zealand just after the gold rushes in Central Otago commenced.

Hi I have been working on my family tree and much to my delight I found this website with Richard and Mary Reeve listed on a headstone, after a few years of looking this branch is finally coming together and I would dearly love to add a photo of my Great Great Great Great Grandparents Grave to my Family Tree. The Reeve name is quite important to us and has been used as the first or middle name of one boy in each generation of our family since the first generation here in Australia in the mid 1850's and was used as recently as September last year, quite a family tradition! As I am in Australia and unable to get there myself I would greatly appreciate this photo to add to my family tree. Fantastic work, I rely heavily on websites like this when I cannot get there myself! Cheers Louise Morrow

My family is descended from John Gee and Louisa Reeve. Their son John Gee married Sophia Wild in Melbourne, Australia and emigrated to New Zealand shortly after their marriage. John Gee was a butcher like his father, but was a publican and hotel owner for the majority of his adult life. He owned The Pyramid Hotel en route to the goldfields, and established the township of Riversdale, Northern Southland when he saw that the railway being established from Gore to Lumsden would not pass Pyramid. I have extensively researched the Gee family in Australia and New Zealand for 20 years.
