Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Hi, Margaret and Barrell were my grandparents, William was my uncle (however he very sadly passed away way before I was [and my brother] were born). His brother Robert Ian is my dad and hence the second son of Margaret and Burrell. My dad and I are currently looking into a possible re-issue of war medals, with Burrell having served in Italy and N Africa. My dad is uncertain as to whether his dad was born in 1912 / 1913 ... this would greatly help in our endeavours. He was a very gentle man with a real warmth about him, who served on the railways from leaving school until his retirement (with WW2 counting for continuous service) ...Sadly his retirement was only for a short period ... Really appreciate your time, with much thanks and kind regards, Paul
