Straun Gordon William Tamplin (1871-1905) was the son of William Tamplin and Henrietta Schneider. He was a Major in the 1 Volunteer Battalion The Royal Sussex Regiment & served in the 1st Boer War. He was invalided home with the rank of Hon. Colonel in the Army in recognition of his services. He died unmarried aged 34 after a short illness on the 12th of August 1905 at West End, Hampshire, England.
