20091001909first name on monumentIn 1939 Yrissou was attached to the office of the Prime Minister; Paul Reynaud; ; and then briefly served the Vichy régime. He then chose to join the French army. He joined the Free French Forces in London via North Africa. He was a member of the French Parliament 1958-1962 and Mayor of Gaillac in south-west France 1959-1977; and worked closely with the French minister Antoine Pinay; who held the highest ministerial positions in the 1950s.
