THOBURN Cha? Thorburn listing correction and info: ThoburnThe name on the gravestone is “Rachael wife of John Thoburn”. She was recorded in the 1841 census for South Tanfield along with her husband. I do not know what month the census was taken, but she evidently died the same year. John Thoburn remarried in 1842 to Elizabeth Smith, whose family lived in the next dwelling. The Thoburns and at least a couple of the Smith family immigrated to Johnstown, PA, USA in 1853.

PALMERConflation of two individuals named John PalmerMonument to Mary Bathurst in Bishops Lydeard, listed as 541734 & 530620 (I believe this is a duplication) The monument mentions Dr John Palmer, Warden of All Souls, first husband of Mary Bathurst. The monument also commemorates John Palmer esq., son of Mary and Dr John Palmer. It is the son's death gate that is given as March 15th 1689.

TETLEYWrong details Further to my comments about the names on the gravestone of my grandfather Clarence Tetley, and the correct name of his wife. I since learned that Jane, one of my grandmother's sisters was also buried in the same grave, hence the confusion. Clara died in 1977, and Jane about 1988. Her proper name was Margaret Jane Tayler/Taylor, and she never married.

KEMPMaria KempHello, Thank you for sending me the photo of my g-g-g-grandmother Maria Kemp's gravestone which I am pleased to confirm is the right one. One comment I would like to make is that the date on the stone is 1873, not 1878 - I have her death certificate to confirm this. The death certificate does have some conflicting information - it says she died on Nov 25, not Nov 16 as it says on the stone. However, the certificate also says her husband was William but this is wrong - the name Thomas on the stone is right. Perhaps as the certificate was filled in by her son-in-law with whom she had been living explains the error. Anyway, thanks again for your help. Best regards, Mike Brock
