Introduction

This page contains a list of all the entries for the maiden name BRETT that are held within the Gravestone Photographic Resource online database. It is quite likely that there are also entries available for alternative spellings of this name. It is very easy for you to check to see if there are any alternative spellings: you just need to look at the page that shows all the names listed under the starting letter (B in this case) of the maiden name you are interested in.

If you click on a particular name or GPR reference number above you will see details of what information is held for that particular person. If there is an image available then you will be able to order a free copy of it.

If you click on a particular church, parish or town name above then you will see details of all the grave monument images that are available for that particular location.

Please note that all ages and dates of birth in red have been calculated and are probably not on the monument.

You should treat the calculated dates of birth with caution as the ages given on monuments are often inaccurate. The dates and ages on many monuments are also often hard to read. It is therefore important to use the dates as guides as they may be incorrect.

The same person may appear many times in the above list. This is because a person can easily be listed on many different monuments. For instance, a person could be listed on their own grave as well as on the gravestone monuments of their children and their spouse. Occasionally names will be duplicated because the monument has in error been photographed and indexed twice.

Where a relationship is shown as unknown, this usually means that parts of the monument are illegible and relationship cannot be read.

Where no relationship is given this means that this is normally the first name on the monument. All the relationships on any particular monument relate to this first named individual.

In most cases images are available. However sometimes they will unavailable. Often this is because although images have been taken they were unfortunately lost when the resource suffered a major computer fault and not all the images could be recovered.

BRETTThanks for this excellent resource. Helps to have photos in family history reports, sadly in this case does not help unblock this line as I am stuck at William Brett who died Wokingham 1838. This gravestone is of his wife and son.

Thank you very much for the gravestone images for my gggggm Elizabeth Ann Brett nee Mussett (1794-1839), Cley,Norfolk and for the gravestone of William Benjamin Brett (1845-1896) and his wife Lucy Miall Brett nee Mountain (1850-1894). I am researching the Brett family from the Cley area of Norfolk. My branch moved to the London area eventually ending up in the Barnet area.

Ralph Henry BRETT, buried at St James Church, Enfield Highway
Hi, Thank you so much for the image of Ralph Henry BRETT's grave. He's a distant relative but I have also today sent a message to someone who says that Ralph is their grandfather so it will be great if I can establish a link. Sadly, my Mum lost all conatct with her BRETT family because her father, Frederick Thomas BRETT died when she was only 6 months old. Ralph is Frederick's cousin (I think I've worked that out correctly!). I would dearly love to make contact with near relatives who may have photos of people. Anyhow, thank you for such a fabulous resource and for the grave image. Best wishes Elaine Maul
