The follow note is stored against William Hogg record:

He was for fifty years a much esteemed gratuitous preacher of the gospel in the tabernacles of London; Bristol; Rodborough and various other places in this and the adjoining counties. It is incredible the sums of money he expended in charity. William was probably born in 1714 (not 1719 per the headstone) in Pitchcombe. After a tempestuous youth, including marriage against the will of his wife's parents, he became a convinced Christian and close associate of George Whitefield. He was a butcher by trade, but travelled around various towns in Gloucestershire at weekends to preach the gospel.
