My 3x Gt grandparents are buried in Syderstone churchyard. I am wondering if this is their gravestone as her name was Susannah DAWES, she was buried on 22 July 1874. As the stone appears worn I am wondering if it may have read Susannah at one time. Her husbands name was Benjamin, he was buried on 21 Jun 1856 but suspect his name has completely worn away. With many thanks in anticipation. Regards, Roma

My 4x great grandparents were Benjamin Dawes and Susanna Crafer. I think this Robert Dawes was Benjamin's nephew. I believe this Robert and his wife were mentioned in a newspaper article dated Saturday 28 Apr 1827 as she gave birth to triplet girls named Mary, Sarah and Susan. In the article Robert was described as 'an example of perservering honest industry' and his wife (whom I have as Mary Ann) 'a rare pattern of neatness and good management in domestic cottage economy'

I believe that this is my g-g-g-grandfather, Robert Daw/Daws, born 1799 according to Parish records. He was also the Parish clerk for a number of years according to the 1851 census, and the 1865 Norfolk & Suffolk Post Office Directory
