The sad news was received on Thursday evening that Mr George Dufall had passed away during the afternoon at Ora Banda , a victim to pneumonic influzenza. The decease who was only 32 years of age was for some time attached to the staff of the local post office (Albany) and during his sojourn here he married Fanny , only daughter of Mr and Mrs. R. Weltch , and she and three young children are left to mourn their loss. Mr Dufall left Albany to take up a position in the department at Grass Valley , and ultimately he assumed the office of postmaster at Ora Banda. He was a keen footballer and cricketer........... William John Murphy , a trucker on the Gimlet mine , one of the Victorious leases , was killed at 20 minutes to 2 o'clock on Monday afternoon , in a stope off the 200 ft level. The deceased only recently started work on the mine , but he had been alternately prospecting and splitting wood in the district for some time. Western Argus. 9SmithJ A Smith1914no image51294011271John Smith. Died 15 January 1914. MINER BURNED TO DEATH. AN ORA BANDA SENSATION. WIDOW AND CHILDREN AT BOULDER - Ora Banda Jan 16. A fatal burning accident occurred at Ora Banda last night when a miner was burned to death in his camp , which was destroyed by fire. Maurice Walsh , a mate of the deceased , was the first to see the outbreak. The camp was constructed chiefly by bough , and although assistance was speedily forthcoming , nothing could be done to save the deceased , owing to the fierceness of the flames , until the fire had abated. The body. when recovered was found to be completely incinerated. The cause of the fire is at present unknown. An inquest was opened this morning........... Mr Thomas Walls , died peacefully on Thursday evening at his residence , near the Lady Evelyn gold mine , Cashmans. Deceased , who was well and favourably known throughout this district for his many genuine and sterling qualities , was a prospector , and one of the successful ones , in the Cashmans locality , where he had resided for the past 22 years with his two sons and a daughter............. Mining Fatality at Christmas Patch - Our Ora Banda correspondent writes:-A fatal accident occurred to William Wares on Friday , May 2. The deceased man and his mate , Alf. Parker , were working on what is known , Williams' old show at Paddy's Knob , Christmas Patch about six miles north-west of Ora Banda. They were working in a shaft which had been sunk to 33ft. and Wares was breaking out a sample whena fall of ground occured and buried him. Parker , who was considerably bruised , freed his mate , and found he was still alive. A fatality occurred at Victoria mine , Ora Banda , yesterday. William Willcocks was working at the saw bench when a large block of woof was hurled back and struck him on the chest , inflecting injuriew which resulted in his death an hour later Barrier Miner.
