Mother was of a branch of my Quick family whose roots are Brushford Somerset mid 1700's. George was born 16 Feb 1906 in Poughhill, devon where father was working at the time. Birth date and those of his sibs were provided by father William himself who enlisted in the ASC 1918 at age 44 to help the war effort. Admirable! George married Hilda May Beer in Atherington 1934. The newspaper report in the North Devon Journal of Oct 18 states that Hilda was the adopted daughter of M/M J. Stephens of Tray Lane.

He was well respected as a groom and gardener in Atherington. In fact, they lived at Rectory Lodge - St. Mary's Parish Church and was very involved in Atherington's social community. A loving obit appears 09 Nov 1939 in the North Devon Journal. They married in South Molton 1900 on 01 Nov.
Jessie Seatherton1877711948 Jessie was born 1876 in South Molton. dau of Emma Jane Quick and John Gratton. She died in High Bickington. She and husband William were well respected in Atherington. Jessie's obit and very detailed funeral appears in the 15 Jan 1948 issue of North Devon Journal. Her ggrandad John Quick was my ancestor uncle of Brushford Somerset.

248SeathertonWilliam H Seatherton1904761980id: 3012866081421Known as Will, William Henry was born 19 Dec 1903 in Poughill, Devon where his father at that time was working. Father also named William and mother Jessie Gratton whose mother was Emma Quick. The Quick line goes back to Brushford Somerset and is a branch of mine. William married Vera Susannah Southcombe on 22 April 1936 at Chulmleigh Parish Church. A full report appears 24 April issue of Devon & Exeter Gazette. It says that parents were M/M George Southcombe of Colleton Mill in Chulmleigh
