In Memory Robert Armstrong aged 28 James Ingledew aged 39 and Joseph Fenison aged 27 Yrs who their lives October 11th 1812 by climing into a well at Marton [Died while] venturing into a well at Marton when it was filled with carbonic acid gas or fixed air From this unhappy accident let others take warning not to venture into wells without first trying whether a candle will burn If the candle burns to the bottom they may be entered with safety If it goes out human life cannot be sustained

John Corser Barker was born about 1848 at Bridgnorth, Shropshire in England. the son of John Barker and Frances nee Lowe. John died 3 Jan 1898 in a railway accident at Kaukapakapa, North Auckland. John was buried at the Helensville Cemetery.

Those whose names are here recorded were accidentally drowned in the river Ouse whilst returning from singing the praises of their Saviour in the neighbouring townships; on December 26th 1923. Gods Will Be Done. As a tribute of respect to the memory of the sufferers; and of deep compassion for their sorrowing families; their common landlord; Beilby Thompson of Escrick Park has errected this monument. IMO of James R Brown beloved husband of Ann Hamilton who died 22nd Sep 1935 aged 54 years. The result of an accident in Loganlea Colliery. Also their daughter Mary who died 24th May 1926 aged 15 years. the above Ann Hamilton died 17th Jun 1962 aged 77 years. Also their son James died 23rd July 1962 aged 60 years Small placque at foot - illegible Only Sleeping.
