I am an Irish Police Historian and I have written a history of the Royal Irish Constabulary. Edward Saunders was a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary from 7 September 1920 until 10 February 1922, having enlisted through the Recruiting Office in Chichester. In the 1911 Census he is listed as a Gunner with the 98th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. In WW1 he served as a Sergeant in the 4th South Africa Infantry Regiment and in 1939 he is listed as a Special Constable in Sussex.
