Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of Connie Whitehead with the following comment:
Hello from Australia! After World War Two, my father Horst Berg(aged around 21), was a German POW in Debach. A Mrs Connie Whitehead invited him and his friend for a meal. When they asked why she was being so kind to them, she replied that her own son was in the Occupation Forces in Hamburg, and that she hoped that a German woman might be looking out for her son, just as she herself was looking after my Dad. When I was little, my Dad decided to call me Connie, after that very kind lady. My husband and I are visiting Wickham Market in January, 2017, and I would like to visit her grave. An image of her gravestone would also mean a lot to me right now, as my father has just died, and this was one of his favourite stories of his POW time in England - and mine of course too! Please pass this lovely story onto any family Mrs Whitehead may have. I am happy to be contacted. I am also happy to support your cause - let me know how I can do this from Australia please. We could also provide a donation when we visit in January.
