Private; Gloucestershire Regiment 55428 3rd Battalion James Love was born in Waply on 24th October 1901. His mother was Ellen Rebecca Love, Domestic Servant (unmarried) - father's name not shown on birth certificate. His Grandmother, Emma Love, registered the birth on the 29th November, 1901 and with her mark and confirmed that she was present at the birth in wapley. His grandparents were Isaac and Emma Love. James was baptised in Wapley Church on 24th October, 1901. James joined up towards the end of WW1 and was based in sittingbourne, Kent. The 3rd Battalion was a training battalion. He went to Catterick Garrison for further training and died in Scotton Military Hospital on 24th july, 1919 at the age of 17 years. The cause of death was :- 1. Acute lobar pneumonia 2. Diptheria. He never went overseas so there would be no entry in the medal index and there would be no entry in any war diaries. James qualifies for a war grave under category One - CWGC
