Captain Bertram Sutton Evans RN, died of influenza in Paris, en route to take up command of HMS Europa at Mudros Basin, on the island of Lemnos. The son of Henry James Evans, an assistant master of Charterhouse school, Godalming, Bertram was born in Godalming on 17 December 1972. He was the brother of Lt Col Llewelyn Evans MC DSO RE.
