Robert Frederick Noden D.S.O. D.F.M. (service No 742742), born to parents William G. Noden and Kathleen Rooke on 18th of January 1914, Altrincham, Cheshire. He met Jean Hargrave Johnson while she was an intelligence officer at 12 Squadron R.A.F. Wickenby and married in Southport, Lancashire in September 1944. Jean was born on the 23rd of July 1912 to George Freston Johnson and Florence Hargrave in Fylde. Robert was awarded the D.F.M. whilst flying as a Sergeant with 37 squadron in the Middle East announced in the London Gazette on the 25th of July 1941, and a D.S.O. as an acting Flight Lieutenant flying for 12 Squadron Wickenby announced in the London Gazette on the 14th of May 1943. Robert was promoted to Wt Offs announced in the London Gazette on 28th of July 1942. Jean died in 1994 and Robert in 1996 and are buried together at St Andrews Church, Walberswick, Suffolk after surviving the war, one of the few lucky members of Bomber Command.
