John Pounder left Hartlepool in 1849 for a new life in Manchester he married Hannah Waller from Yorkshire and opened a fish mongers in Salford Manchester. After the death of his wife Hannah 1n 1875 and the marriages of his sons William Ainsley and Frederick Ash Pounder , he returned to Hartlepool to live with his sister Ann Green and died in August 1881 and was buried with his parents and brother at St Hilda's.
