NB Official French records state his d.o.b as 1746. A leading lawyer who rose to local prominence at first in Metz and then Nancy before the Revolution; but fell from favour during the Terror. He regained official backing; and was the local member of the French parliament from 1805-1810; and again after the Restoration from 1815-1816. He was also the presiding judge of Nancy court.
