Born on 22 January 1822 and baptised on 31 March 1812 at Burwash, East Sussex. He was a land owner' living on own means. Following his wife's death in 1866, it is believed that he married a Laura Hayes Whatmore on 10 October 1867 (GRO ref Cricklade v5a p61). He died on 31 March 1893 (GRO ref Steyning v2b p181) and Grant of Probate was to his widow Laura Hayes Philcox. Estate valued at £9,199 19s 9d).
