William was the youngest son of Charles Vernon, b.1840, and Esther Vernon, nee Oliver, b 1839. He was born on Needham Street, Codnor, although his parents had previously moved from Wirksworth. William had his own Greengrocers shop in Codnor. In 1911 census he is father to four girls. I believe that after retiring they lived on Jessop Street, Codnor.
