Elizabeth Bannerman Taylor was a daughter of James Horn Burnett, 1801-1876, and Lauderdale Burnett Ramsay, 1806-1888. She married George John Pitt Taylor on 2 February 1869, had one son and four daughters by him, and died on 23 February 1877. Given that her daughter Ernestine was born in 1877, it seems likely that her premature death was brought on by complications during childbirth.
