The wife of George Reed, shown on the gravestone as Janet Ferguson Reed, gave her first name as Jessie on all the available documents for the whole of her life from her marriage to George in 1873 to close to the end of her life, which is why I (and a half dozen others that I am aware of) could not find any trace of her death - until thanks to this website. The GRO index also shows her first name as Janet. So the challenge now is to find out which one is her real name, and who decided that her name should be changed on her death. Her maiden name was Niven.
