Helena, known as Nellie, was born 27 Jun 1881 in Thornaby and spent her working life as a teacher. She was to marry Walter Heslop, but he was killed on the Somme in 1916. She eventually married late in life unhappily to a Richard Swift in Durban, Natal, South Africa on 27 Apr 1949. She died in Glasgow on 22 Mar 1966.
