This is Norman Seymour Railton, the brother of William Railton who shares his memorial. Norman joined up in Stockton on Tees in 1915. Was badly injured at the Somme on 28.3.1918 resulting in amputation of left arm at shoulder joint. He was in 227th Field Company, Royal Engineers. On discharge was awarded a weekly pension of 22s a week for life. On attestation in 1915 he is described as 28yrs and 7 months, 5ft 4 and three quarter inches with a girth of 37.5inches
