Socialist politician who was elected to Parliament in 1914 but served with distinction on active service. After WW1 he pursued a municipal political career in Boulogne-Billancourt; until election to the French Senate in 1927. In 1940 he refused to participate in the vote according dictatorial powers to Pétain. His second wife was Simone Debat-Ponson; but by his first wife he was the great-grandfather of Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet; currently a leading member of the French Government (2012).
