John STEWART was born in Kirkliston, West Lothian, Scotland on 17.08.1830. He was the eldest child of John STEWART and Catherine STEWART (nee JOHNSTON). He married Jane STEWART (nee FORSTER) on 15.11.1855. in Stanwix, Cumberland. They had six children (one died young). John died on 26.03.1919. (Aged 88) at Cemetery Lodge (now South Lodge), Oxbridge Cemetery. He was the Cemetery Superintendent/Head Gardener and lived in Cemetery Lodge for over 50 years. I believe the stone heads either side of the front door of the lodge are of him and his wife Jane.
