Irene Gillies (nee Beesley) was my 1st cousin twice removed. the daughter of my 2nd great aunt Annie Evelyn Gillman. She was born in Manchester on 14 Oct 1918, and like myself, became a school teacher. In 1945, she landed a job at Durban Girls'College. In 1946 she married Captain Ian Gillies in Mogadishu, Somalia. She returned to the UK in 1949 and lived in Galashiels, Scotland, and later Silverdale, where she died on 20 Aug 1982.
