John Bowden
1853931760first name on monumentAccording to Ancestry Hints pages, his father was Josiah Bowden and mother Mary unknown. John was married to Mary Barbary (or Barbery)and their children were I gather John Bowden 1806-1875 who married Jane unknown born 1810, Samuel Bowden 1807-1862, Josiah Bowden 1809-1890 and James Bowden 1811-1887. Had no idea the family had Quaker faith. Thank you very much. January 2017 - I believe that John was the son of John Bowden and Elizabeth, formerly Grey, who probably had six children, including my 4xgreat grandfather, Salmon, born 16 January 1763. The John Bowden whose father was Josiah was born in 1779, making him too young to fit this detail. It was John, son of Josiah who married Mary Barbary; this John was married as he appears as a widow in the 1851 census, but I have not uncovered whom he married - yet!

I'm hoping that he is my 5x great grandfather. I live in the Midlands & have so far managed to visit a few but not all of the graveyards in the Liskeard area. A relative recently passed me your details & she was very pleased with your service. Thankyou.

Family history research. My Great Grandfather, Frederick James Bowden, was born in Ashburton around 1850. He was a Brush Maker and moved to Bradford where he settled and raised a family. His father was Thomas Bowden born in Ashburton in 1810 who married Margaret Male. I am researching with Ancestry and now that I can see other people's family tree, I am beginning to wonder if much of my research is wrong prior to 1810. I am already a volunteer with the Free BMD website. I am currently rekeying the 1837 marriages and I am told we have 100 million entries to complete! This takes up much of my spare time or I would be glad to help. Thank you for your efforts which are appreciated.

I believe this to be the gravestone of the brother of my 4xgreat grandfather, Salmon Bowden. However if it is, then the hints you have suggested are incorrect, and John is the son of John Bowden and Elizabeth, formerly Grey. Whatever - Bowdens in Liskeard in the Quaker faith will almost certainly be related! Thank your.
