Driver Colin Melville Thorn Military Medal					Service Number. 5205. Enlisted - 2nd February 1916. Wounded in action in France 12th June 1917 (GSW to face and shoulder. Fractured shoulder). Awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field between Morcourt and Mericourt-Sur-Somme.- I wish to draw attention to the gallant conduct of No , 5205 , Pte , C.M. THORN. This man is a Signaller in B Company. during the operations of th 8th , 9th and 10th August , he ran repeatedly and repaited lines by day and night under untense machinegun and snipers fire. during the day of the 10th instant , he especially distinguished himself , when with utter disregard for personal care he repaired lines under terrific Machinegun fire from close range. This man's work is worthy of the highest praise. 2nd October 1918. Returned to 8th April 1919. Son of Albert and Mary Thorn. NOK - Albert Thorn , Father
