A career Royal Navy bachelor, Douglas was the 3rd Son (of 5) of Rev Henry Walker from Norfolk and Jane Douglas Pinckney of Charleston, South Carolina. (my 3x Great Grandparents). Douglas also had 6 sisters. Their parents were masterful Victorian networkers who succeeded in marrying almost all their children into social, if not professional, advancement. Their stories can be traced back to America, across Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Southern Africa - in Public Service, the Judiciary, Medicine, Farming and Engineering.
