Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I descend from the General's brother Robert Dudgeon through his second son Robert Ellis Dudgeon MD and my mother was a natural daughter of his son Norman. Best wishes - Peter.

I am researching the genealogy of the WHIGHAM family of Allanton and Sanquhar in Dumfriesshire. Patrick William Vilet DUDGEON m. Lilias WHIGHAM in 1846, but I am unable to locate his death in statutory Scottish of English/Welsh registers or even 1861 UK census, or even obituaries in local newspapers. This image may be the last avenue open to me and I would welcome your assistance. Thanking you in anticipation - Stuart Coles, Dumfries.
