It looks very much as though Dorothy's grave lay unmarked (not noted on the Cumbria Family History list of Arnside MIs published 2006) and this situation continued until Lucy decided to be buried there - and then there was a new gravestone. Sadly Dorothy died when Lucy was very small and her brother Frank Ripley Pearson had just been born. Their father then remarried. Lucy and Frank were brought up by their aunt and uncle in Arnside (Lucy & George Dickinson who are also buried in Arnside Cemetery).

Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I've been looking for this lady for some time - her husband was my kinsman Thomas Alfred Pearson of Arnside. After her early death her husband married again, but his second wife refused to have their two small children. So they were brought up by their aunt & uncle in Arnside. All rather sad. The Lucy Beryl Parker is actually Dorothy's daughter. It looks as though Dorothy had an unmarked grave until her daughter was buried there in 2015. Ian Pearson
