Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Ann Garmonsway was the (remarried) mother of John Carter, a mason & builder who designed some of the earliest buildings for the Stockton & Darlington Railway (S&DR)in the 1820s. John died (aged 44) a year before his mother, who lived in one of his houses, probably designed and built by him. I am doing (unpaid!) research for the Friends of the S&DR group.(If you would like one of my photos of John's grave in the same churchyard let me know.) Many thanks for all your great work.
