Richard was the brother of the Rev. Joseph Rigg of St. Paul's Church Preston, Robert Rigg, F.R.S., Organic Chemist, Robinson Rigg of St Bees, Cumberland, Esq., John Rigg of Whitehaven and Thomas Rigg of Boustead Hill Esq.
