Please note that all ages and dates of birth in red have been calculated and are probably not on the monument.

The calculated dates of birth should be treated with caution as in many cases it can be one year out.

The calculated dates of birth should also be treated with caution as the ages given on monuments are often inaccurate.

The names above are all the names that are listed on the grave monument. It is most likely that only the entries with dates and ages are interred in the grave.

Notes about St Leonard b

The ancient parish church of the Cinque Port of Deal contains many 18th century gravestones and a few of the 17th century. The earliest stone found in the graveyard relates to a burial in 1666. Many of these stones are badly weathered and wholly or partly illegible. The transcriptions undertaken in the late 18th century and published at http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/MIsDealStLeonard/01.htm have been used to supplement the photographs where possible. The church was locked at the time of my visit and so there are no photographs of the interior. All legible stones in the graveyard have been transcribed.
