I am a descendant of John via his daughter Dorothea Earl who married Capt Henry A.L. Richards in Australia. Thence Dorothea's daughter Annie Richards of Camden, her daughter Rebecca Wheeler who married Septimus Powell in Sydney. Septimus & Rebecca are my great-grandparents. I visited Patterdale Hall and St Patricks Church in 2012 and took pics John's grave but they are a little dark. Photo is to add to my personal family history records. You help would be appreciated. Regards, Linda Powell - Brisbane, Qld, Aust.

(requested on 30 08 2016)
John Earl (1790-1876) married 29th April 1822 at Westmoreland Ann Holme (nee Mounsey)Christened 27th December 1787 at Patterdale, Westmoreland, they were residing here in NSW when Ann died on the 14th July 1875, their daughter Dorothy Earl had married in 1840, and John Earl returned to England. John Earl (1840-1871) entry shows he died at Beechwood Australia, went to the NSW Death index found a John Earl died in 1871 in Orange father recorded as Patrick, and Orange is no where near Beechworth, went to Victorian registers and found a Edward John Earl death recorded 1871 no location recorded son of John Benjamin Earl and Jane nee Parsons. Have to find out now if Mary Earl was a 3rd wife? Maybe John Earl Snr did not register his sons death? I would appreciate any information I can get, would only be very happy to pay for a good readable image of John Earls last resting place.
